Prepare a Eurosafe liferaft or related marine-safety unit for service by recording the exact product identity, approval, installation and history.

Eurosafe works across life-saving and firefighting appliances, which means the manufacturer name identifies the maker but not the service procedure. A liferaft, inflatable appliance, cylinder or fire-safety component must be routed by its own label, approval, technical instruction and condition.

Begin with a complete equipment identity.

Photograph the entire packed unit and every readable identification or service label. Record manufacturer, complete model, serial number, capacity or cylinder size, approval, manufacture date, service dates and emergency-pack information where applicable. If the unit is installed in a cradle, cabinet or fixed system, add an overview that shows how it belongs to the vessel arrangement.

Do not infer identity from colour, shape or an inventory abbreviation. Canisters are replaced, labels fade and a vessel may carry equipment from several generations. When an external marking is unclear, provide the previous certificate and purchase or installation record; the station may need to confirm the product before opening, testing or ordering parts.

Define the equipment and the requested work separately.

A request saying 'Eurosafe service' leaves the most important question unanswered. State whether the item is a liferaft, inflatable appliance, portable extinguisher, cylinder or component of a larger system, then describe the due work and the reason for it. Routine periodic service, damage assessment, refill, hydrostatic testing and investigation after accidental release are different jobs.

Include the vessel's flag, use and any survey or class instruction. The station can then check current manufacturer scope, applicable procedures, parts and certification. This step protects the owner from transporting an unsupported unit and protects the service record from being based on assumptions.

Authorised service is a controlled technical process.

For inflatable equipment, the work can include opening, condition inspection, prescribed pressure or inflation tests, expiry-controlled contents, authorised repair and repacking. Cylinder or fire work may instead depend on medium, pressure vessel markings, valves, hoses, actuators and the wider installed system. The exact manufacturer manual and regulatory basis determine what can be signed off.

The date label is the conclusion of that work, not the work itself. Ask what was inspected, tested or replaced and ensure the returned certificate identifies the serial number. Any limitation, deferred repair or installation issue should be recorded clearly enough for the vessel's responsible person to act on it.

Protect the handover in both directions.

Before delivery, make an equipment list with photographs, serial numbers, quantity, vessel location and condition. State the port window and priority rather than sending loose units with no operational context. Report damage, contamination, water exposure, missing seals or discrepancies between the unit and its certificate.

At return, reconcile every serial number, certificate and label. Inspect the packed or assembled condition and confirm who is responsible for reinstallation, release arrangements and any onboard test. The most reliable equipment register is updated at the handover, while the unit and paperwork are physically together.
