Match the specification, not just the size
Two extinguishers of the same capacity can have different agents, fire ratings and approvals. For a replacement, the existing label and the vessel’s fire-equipment specification are more useful than a request for a red cylinder of the same size.
Tell us where the equipment is installed and what the vessel requires. The quote can then identify the proposed unit, rather than leave you to compare equipment by appearance. For several replacements, list each type and quantity separately.
What to specify
Portable extinguishers
Powder, foam and CO₂ are distinct extinguisher types. The vessel’s required agent and fire rating should guide the order.
Include capacity, model, rating and approval from the current label. Foam units are commonly specified in litres; powder and CO₂ units in kilograms.
Wheeled units
Larger mobile extinguishers are a separate equipment choice, with their own capacity, agent and mounting or stowage needs.
For a like-for-like replacement, send the existing model and capacity. Do not substitute a portable unit solely because it uses the same agent.
Fire blankets
Add blankets to the enquiry as their own line item, with the size and quantity required.
Include the vessel’s specified product standard or existing label if the order is tied to a survey or equipment list.
Send these details for your quote
If you have a survey list, copy the relevant equipment specifications into the message. Choose Unsure in the form if the extinguisher type still needs identifying.
- Quantity of each extinguisher type or fire blanket
- Agent: powder, foam or CO₂; capacity and model
- Fire rating and required marine approval
- Installation location and any bracket or stowage requirements
- Delivery destination and date needed aboard

Is the capacity enough to identify a replacement?
No. Also include the agent, fire rating, approval and model where available. The same nominal capacity can describe units with different specifications.
Can I ask for a different agent?
You can include that requirement in the enquiry, but the proposed replacement must match the vessel’s fire-equipment specification. Do not treat powder, foam and CO₂ as interchangeable simply because the cylinder fits.
Can one quote cover portable and wheeled units?
Yes. List the quantities, agent and capacity for each separately, then add any fire blankets as another item. That keeps the quote clear when the vessel needs several equipment types.
Can existing extinguishers be serviced instead?
Use our fire-safety equipment service page for inspection and servicing enquiries. The product quote is for new or replacement equipment; it does not book a service visit.
