What we inspect

The work starts with identifying the equipment and its service history. Lifejackets and immersion suits have different components and inspection requirements; each item is assessed for its make and model.

Inflatable lifejackets

For inflatable lifejackets, we inspect the jacket’s condition, CO₂ cylinder, inflator and fitted safety equipment, including the whistle, light and reflective material. Component dates are recorded where applicable.

If a jacket has inflated or been rearmed, tell us what happened and which parts were fitted. That history matters when assessing the next service.

Immersion suits

For immersion suits, we check the fabric, lining, hood and zipper, together with any fitted buoyancy, light and reflective material. Visible wear, damage and component dates form part of the inspection record.

Include the manufacture date and any previous leak-test record. Those details help establish the work due for the particular suit.

Service due?
Send us the list.

You can include lifejackets and immersion suits in one request. Group them by make and model, with quantities and the records you have.

Tell us your survey date or when the equipment needs to be back aboard. If a surveyor has raised a finding, include it with a photo of the affected item.

We review the make, model and requested work before arranging intake. Acceptance and service scope depend on the equipment.

  • Make, model and quantity
  • Label photos and serial numbers where marked
  • Manufacture dates and last service records
  • Damage, inflation or rearming history
  • Vessel location and required return date

Before you
enquire

How often does the equipment need servicing?

Check the service record and the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact model, together with the vessel’s applicable requirements. Lifejacket service intervals and immersion-suit testing schedules differ. Send the label and last record if the next date is unclear.

Can I send jackets and suits in the same request?

Yes. Add each equipment type or model separately in the service request , with its quantity, records and photos.

My equipment has damage or a survey finding. Can you assess it?

Include the finding and clear photos of the affected area and label. We review the equipment and the requested work before arranging intake. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for equipment with a suspected defect.

Can you quote for replacement equipment?

Yes. Use the suits and lifejackets quote form with the sizes, quantities and vessel requirements. Product supply is handled by The Marine Store by SM Caribbean.
